The summer bounty of the garden is winding down. Leaves are turning brown. In the front yard, we've stopped picking fresh beans in favor of letting them plump up and dry up on the vine. When the pods are crunchy, it's time to harvest them.
The beans are shelled and the seeds are saved for next year. We might even cook some of the large seeds, maybe with some pasta. We have a lot of beans this year!
As I pick the beans, Abby watches from the porch. For some reason, she's stopped frequenting the backyard in favor of the front. She thinks we'll feed her out front from now on, and of course, she's right. We'll do whatever she wants.
