Taxes, Tofu Cake, Broccoli Soup and Big Cocks! Happy New Year!
I've been lagging on the blog, but it's not like I've been doing nothing at all. I spent a long time getting ready for the end of the year, paperwork-wise, by making a hundred piles on the dining room table and drinking tea and trying to make everything slightly more organized in files. I even bought one of those cool electronic label makers. I have always wanted one. I had the old style Dyno label maker forever and it recently quit working so I had an excuse to get a new one. It was a very confusing purchase (I am easily overwhelmed in retail environments) and I ended up buying the pink one. It's the Crapbooking special, which is why it's pink, to appeal to all the pink-loving gals (presumably) that like their memories tidy and embellished with tissue paper and ribbons and whatever else that world is into. Maybe I should combine crapbooking with accounting and decorate my files with glitter and archival rubber stamped geese. Anyhow, the labelmaker is pretty cool and the 2008 files are already looking lovely.
I made a cake from the RFD cookbook which was totally yummy. It is supposed to be a two layer cake made with barley flour, but I went to Surfas for supplies and they didn't have barley flour, so I got spelt flour instead. And I didn't have the right size pans for the two layer cake, so I made it a three layer cake. The frosting is full of tofu and chocolate and it's super creamy and astoundingly flavorful. The cake tasted better the next morning but a few days later it was moldy. I guess that's why it is supposed to be kept in the fridge.
Also from the RFD cookbook was this broccoli spinach soup with a red pepper cream. Wow. It's like licking the lawn! Very green and delicious.
And when I wasn't cooking or baking or filing, I was out at the gay bar looking at the cocks on display. Wow!
And then there was the show I did in Miami. That kept me out of the kitchen for sure. Some more pictures can be found on my other website.
Today is the last day of 2007. I'm busy dealing with receipts and making resolutions. The big New Year's resolution this year is to wear sexier footwear and eat less potato chips.
Happy New Year!
